About SITES

AboutSITES

The Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES) has been sharing the wealth of Smithsonian collections and research programs with millions of people outside of Washington, DC, for more than 50 years. One of the Smithsonian's four national outreach programs our exhibitions have delighted and informed audiences about everything under the sun, from fine art to endangered species, from politics to jazz. Inspiration for these eclectic topics comes from the curators and collections of the Smithsonian as well as collaborations with outside scholars.

By bringing the Smithsonian directly to the places where you live, work, and play, SITES connects Americans to their shared cultural heritage. We circulate our exhibitions as widely as possible: museums, libraries, science centers, historical societies, community centers, botanical gardens, schools, and shopping malls.
